Delaware Megan's Law

Being named after Megan Kanka, Megan's Law was enacted into federal law in 1995. Megan's Law makes it mandatory for every state develop a procedure for notifying local residents when a sexual offender is located in their area.
Megan was only seven years old when a previously convicted sexual offender that resided accross the street from her family, kidnapped, violently rapped, and killed her. It was determined that had her family or other local residents had been alerted that a convicted sexual offender was residing in their neighborhood, this assult would have been thwarted. On that train of thought, the U.S. Congress passed the "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994", nicknamed Megan's Law, without any protests.
